Outline
This session will present achievements and future directions of the JST/RISTEX project titled "Development of Basic Technologies for Nationwide Development of 'No One Left Behind' Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)" (inclusive BOSAI or i-BOSAI for abbreviation) . The session begins with 1) an overview of the project which provided one of the key pieces of evidence for the revision of the Basic Disaster Countermeasures Law in May 2021. Each panelist then shares 2) R & D of the original/seeds Beppu model that eventually led to the nationwide development of i-BOSAI model, 3) the development of DRR training programs for social workers in Hyogo Prefecture, 4) the development of training programs targeted for local government officials who take initiatives to link social services and DRR departments and related organizations, and 5) the knowledge/technological transfer of the i-BOSAI model to the Republic of Ecuador. Following these presentations, the project will be discussed and evaluated from the perspectives of people with disabilities, RISTEX program officers, and international and diversity perspectives.
