Outline
The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction was adopted at the Third United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai in 2015. In this framework, to “Build Back Better” was defined as one of the priority actions to be achieved on a global scale. In Japan, the importance of pre-disaster recovery planning has been advocated, in which diverse stakeholders are involved and post-disaster recovery plans are devised even before a disaster occurs. In this session, discussions will be held on pre-disaster urban reconstruction planning which contributes to minimizing damage that could be caused by an anticipated Nankai Trough earthquake. In order to share the challenges actually faced by prefectures and municipalities and explore solutions, speakers who are working on the frontline of this field are invited to hold lively discussions
