Outline
During the World Bosai Forum(WBF), we will mark the 12th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011.At "Science Agora in Sendai", female speakers who have been involved in the science of natural disasters and disaster prevention from all over the world will gather under the theme of the WBF to "make disaster prevention more accessible". We will share the activities the female speakers have been doing based on the perspective of life. We will consider the social issues related to gender that have been recognized through their activities so far, and the significance of women's participation in DRR activities.

Yoshie Okusa
Director of NPO natural science, Japan
Since 2005, she has led science education activities under the slogan of "local production and consumption of science and technology," with a goal to implement the intellectual resources of local universities and corporations as educational value to local communities.
Risa Yanagiya
Member of Katahira Association for Community Building, Japan.
With the motto "No vulnerable people left behind,” she is working on community DRR in Katahira area, Sendai, especially focusing on the elderly, children, and people with disabilities. She is also an employee of Sendai City.
Park Irene Jihyeon
Founder and CEO of JHSUSTAIN, South Korea
She has led international development projects based on their expertise in a sustainable environment, addressing climate change and vulnerable populations.
Kabir Laila
Manager, Bangladesh Disaster Preparedness Centre (BDPC), Bangladesh
She has been active in BDPC, an NGO focused on DRR, contributing to community empowerment, knowledge promotion, and advocacy regarding disaster management.
Ngulube Nombulelo Kitsepile
Ph.D. student, Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University
She worked as an educator in Zimbabwe and is now studying and conducting research on community participation in DRR, with women's participation being one of the focus areas.
Natsuko Chubachi
Facilitator
Associate Professor, IRIDeS, Tohoku University
She works for public relations and researchers’ mutual collaboration at IRIDeS. She also conducts research on communication of disaster science and DRR, collaboration between academia and media,
