Outline
In Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture, which was hit by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, most of the elementary and junior high school students were safe. It is said that they were able to evacuate safely because they had learned about BOSAI on a daily basis and had the help of adults in the community. A person who experienced the tsunami evacuation in Kamaishi looks back on the evacuation at that time. In the second half of the session, a local government crisis management officer and tsunami researchers will join the discussion. The research team of JST-MIRAI PROGRAM "Citizen Participatory Research on Digital Communities for Disaster Mitigation" will provide topics and discuss BOSAI in the digital age and related technologies. How should we deal with the next giant tsunami and the torrential rain disasters that are becoming more severe due to climate change? We would like to think about the path we should take toward the realization of a "zero evacuation delay" society.
