Outline
In recent years, there has been a lot of attention focused on “disaster case management (DCM)” as a new method of supporting disaster victims. This method was pioneered in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, which was affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and it has become a model case for supporting disaster victims in the event of a large-scale disaster in Japan. It is now being incorporated into local government disaster prevention plans, and expectations are high for further social implementation in the future. In this session, we will present the basic concepts and necessity of DCM, and while looking back on the results and issues of past initiatives, we will explore the ideal form of support for disaster victims in the future, in light of the increasing frequency and severity of disasters.
