Outline
As disasters become more severe due to climate change, the magnitude of their impact on tourists and the tourism industry is put under the spotlight.
Last fall, the City of Sendai created the “Sendai Tourism Crisis Management Manual,” which sets forth the city's basic response to disaster-induced tourism crisis.
This session will provide an overview of tourism risk management and examples of tourism risk management and disaster risk reduction efforts around the world through presentations from experts, local private sector, and international organizations.
