Registration

Registration for WBF2023 has closed.

All participants in the World BOSAI Forum 2023 are required to register in advance regardless of whether their participation is paid or free.

If you wish to participate, please first read and agree to the "World BOSAI Forum/International Disaster and Risk Conference@2023 Terms and Conditions of Participation", "Privacy Policy" and the explanation on this page, and then register by clicking the link in the middle of this page.

Types of Participation

Paid Participation

Paid participation is intended for people whose work is related to disaster risk, such as business people, government staff, academics, and university graduate students. Paid participation contributes to the scope and success of the World BOSAI Forum programme and allows the participant to maximize their enjoyment and fruitfulness of the Forum. The registration fees are listed below.

If you wish to apply to contribute to the Forum’s programme (topic session, poster session, flash talk presentation), please first register by paying the registration fee and then submit an application via the Contents / Exhibition page.

Free Participation

Free participation is a unique feature of the World BOSAI Forum. It is intended to allow people from civil society who have an interest in disaster risk and its reduction but are not professionally engaged in the topic, to learn and to contribute their experience in selected public sessions. Free participation will be made available at the discretion of the World BOSAI Forum organisers and is aimed at general citizens, disaster survivors, university students who do not major in disaster-related research, high school and junior school students.

*1 Some sessions in the Conference Building will be opened for free participants.

*4 Granting CPD credits is planned. CPD stands for continuing professional development which is a program for engineers to maintain and improve their competencies on their own initiative.

Visa Policy

Participants from outside of Japan are required to check with their local Japanese Embassy or Consulate for visa requirements.

Participants who require visas are advised to start the process as early as possible.

The World BOSAI Forum secretariat is able to issue a Letter of Invitation in English upon completion of payments for registration to prove acceptance to participate in the World BOSAI Forum 2023 in Sendai.

However, this letter does not guarantee a visa. Further, the World BOSAI Forum secretariat has no control over the visa application process or the decisions taken by the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Please note that the World BOSAI Forum secretariat is not able to issue additional documents that may be required for a visa such as organization registration letter, letter of guarantee, schedule of stay, local sponsorship or governmental format letters. Should your visa application be rejected, the World Bosai Forum secretariat cannot engage to change the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, or with the Japanese embassies or consulates.

Border measures to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) (for participants from outside of Japan)

The World BOSAI Forum secretariat is not able to assist participants with the procedures of "Border measures to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19)" implemented by the Japanese government.

Please check the latest status of the Japanese government's response and take action on your own. Also, please refer to the following website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for more information on "Border measures to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19)".

In order to receive the discount on the registration fee, payment must be completed by credit card by the respective deadline. Please note that the deadline is 12:00 (noon) JST of the deadline date. Please note that you will not be able to receive the discount if the payment has not been completed.

Those who register for participation on the day of the event will also be asked to pay by credit card via this website.

Donations

Donations are also accepted on the registration page. If you support the purposes of the World BOSAI Forum 2023 please consider contributing to the non-profit World BOSAI Forum Foundation.

Donations can be made by credit card starting at 1,000 yen.

Admission to Venue

Entry to the World BOSAI Forum 2023 venue will be by means of a Participation Certificate provided at the Registration Desk.

To obtain this certificate, registered participants must first generate a coupon (as a paper printout or smartphone screen page) via the World BOSAI Forum 2023 website, and bring this to the registration desk on the day of the event to exchange it for a participation certificate.

This process aims to speed up the registration process when hundreds of participants are expected to arrive at the venue.

Coupons will not be available until early March 2023.
Information on how to issue a coupon for participation certificate exchange will be announced separately on the World BOSAI Forum 2023 website.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation by the registrant is subject to the following cancellation policy. Please also refer to the link below for details on refunds in the cancelation of the forum.

If you cancel by 12:00 AM (JST) on Saturday, December 31, 2022, you will receive a full refund of the amount paid.

If you cancel after 12:00 AM (JST) on Saturday, December 31, 2022, you will not receive any refund. Please note that the deadline is 12:00 AM (noon) JST of the deadline.

Please also note that any refund of the participation fee is subject to the terms and conditions of the credit card company with which the payment was made.

Support Members

When you register for the World BOSAI Forum 2023, you will automatically be registered as a World BOSAI Forum Support Member.
There is no membership fee. Support members will receive newsletters and event announcements by email.

If you do not wish to receive email notifications, please follow the prescribed procedure to cancel your membership after the forum.
