概要

The tsunami following the Noto Peninsula earthquake on 1 January 2024 was observed along the Japan Sea coast from Hokkaido to Kyushu. Iida Bay, located on the eastern coast of the northern Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture, was hit by remarkably higher tsunami than those at other coasts. This study aimed to understand the amplified mechanisms in Iida Bay. Numerical simulation and spectral analysis are used to analyze the amplified mechanisms. From the results of numerical simulation, the maximum tsunami height was 3.5m at Iida Bay. The snapshot of the numerical simulations showed tsunamis propagating along the shore. The results of spectral analysis suggested peaks due to direct waves from wave source, edge waves and oscillation in Iida Bay. The influence of fault models and seafloor topography on the tsunami propagation process in Iida Bay was studied. This research could contribute to the reduction of overestimation and underestimation of tsunami and appropriate announcement of tsunami warnings.
