Overview
Natural disasters are becoming more frequent and intense, and disaster risk is outpacing resilience in the Asia-Pacific region. The Asia-Pacific Disaster Report 2017 shows that the greatest impacts of disasters are in countries which have the least capacity to prepare for disasters, or respond to them. In this regard, the session will address knowledge and information gaps, and aims to build the capacity of high-risk, low-capacity countries for multi-hazard risk assessment.
