Overview
Although mental health issues have drawn attentions in disaster response and preparedness, and been noted on the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, they still tend to be overlooked or less prioritized. Also, since mental health issues tend to be invisible, and varied among communities/situations, it is essentially difficult to provide proper psychosocial support to a population in need. This session is focused on current situation and perspectives on accumulation of evidence and development and implementation of technologies relevant to disaster response and preparedness focusing on mental health of affected communities for developing more effective disaster mental health support systems.
